If you are a Black man or a man of colour considering getting into teaching, this free seminar is for you.

The seminar is part of a programme of support, action and research to address the problems of representation in teaching, developed in partnership with Prof. Vini Lander, Professor of Race and Education and Director of the Centre for Race, Education and Decoloniality in the Carnegie School of Education, Leeds Beckett University; Dr Anna Carlile, Head of the Department of Educational Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, and Diverse Educators, a charity dedicated to promoting acceptance, increasing visibility, encouraging celebration, creating belonging, and enabling learning.

Black men and men of colour are under-represented in the teaching profession, and we want to change that.

Come along to our free online seminar, and hear from people who have recently completed primary and secondary teacher education programmes. Stay for the Q&A with university admissions tutors and lecturers. We’ll talk about routes into teaching, application requirements, support, motivation, gender, and anything else you bring to the table.

We will also be recording the event to use the ideas, questions and discussions as anonymised research data to try and improve the situation.
